The business manager is elected to this full time position every three years. The manager oversees all union business and makes sure the membership and contractors are working together in unison. The manager delegates workload to staff members and makes sure all items are addressed in a timely matter.
The business agents are full time at the training centers or at job sites if requested. They are the voice on the other end of the phone helping you with questions about insurance, 401k and pension. The agents are in constant contact with the contractors filling manpower requests and assisting them in keeping projects on schedule.
The president of the local is elected every three years and is not full time. The president simply runs the regular monthly membership meetings. These meetings keep the members informed and gives them opportunities to question, comment and vote on items brought to the meeting. The president works every day like the rest of us.
The vice president is elected every three years and is in charge of running the executive board meetings. If the executive board votes into a tie on a particular item, the vice president has the tie breaking vote. Not a full time position and works every day like the rest of us.
The executive board is made up of four members that are voted into the position every three years. These are not full time positions. Meetings are generally to take care of any decisions needed in between the regular monthly membership meetings. Board members work every day like the rest of us.
There are also a few other committees that keep track of financials and how our apprentices are doing with their education. The members of these boards are not full time and they work every day like the rest of us.
